|Well 2007 has been and gone, but what a busy and exciting time it was for Sponge! |
The year started with the launch of the Sponge / Mori Report; ?Eco Chic or Eco Geek? The Desirability of Sustainable Homes', which was a huge success.
The spring brought forward a number of fabulous events including Atelier 10?s ?Mobilising the New Environmentalists?, Think07 and the Sustainable Skills Summit in Reading.
September saw a spurt of fantastic events, namely the Speed Sponging networking event with the UK GBC, attended by over 70 people, the Sponge Eco-trail for Open House London Weekend which had more than 800 copies downloaded from the website and the consultation event on the Housing Green Paper and EcoTowns Prospectus.
October saw the launch of South West Sponge, a new Sponge arm based in Bristol, for members based in the South West area. Look out for our exciting events in the South West area!
November was a hive of activity with the CPD series ?Making Sustainability Pay?, in London, Bristol and Manchester, attended by over 100 delegates and the two consultation events for BERR?s Draft Sustainable Construction Strategy, in London and Bristol.
The year ended with a bang with our final and most successful event of the year; the Sponge Annual Debate at the House of Lords. Over 100 Sponge members attended the evening to hear the motion ?off-site renewables have an essential role in delivering the Government?s zero carbon building targets?.
We hope you enjoyed the year!!
Sponge always needs volunteers to help with events or in the office; so please get in touch if you would like to be more involved. We are always looking for new opportunities or suggestions regarding our events and activities, so all ideas welcome!!
Here?s to 2008 being another successful year for Sponge!
