We have a winner!!
International Designers win Sponge Postcard Design Competition!!

Sponge are producing a set of 4 postcards to celebrate our successful funding application to DEFRA who have agreed to co-fund a three year Sponge project: ?Building the Market for Sustainable Lifestyles?.
The project will research, compile and disseminate the case for building homes that encourage sustainable lifestyles.

Having shuffled through the varied and high quality entries for our ?Sustainable Lifestyles? postcard competition, a winning team has been chosen!

Our winners Dave Chiu and Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino are both pursuing their Masters in Interaction Design at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Italy. Their entry stood out particularly because of its interactive nature- appealing to Sponge as we try to break through the mould and give young professionals the information and inspiration to really act on their sustainability ideals.

Sponge may be mainly UK based, but this didn?t stop this
truly international team discovering us and our competition.

Dave and Alexandra have worked together on various projects while
attending Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, and have each lived,
worked, and traveled across the continents.

Dave hails from the United States, while Alexandra was born in Montreal, Canada but has lived in the Middle East and Europe for most of her life. He is a strong proponent of sustainable design and interdisciplinary work, she is from a product design background and found herself particularly concerned with questioning the intangible relationship we have with our environment. Among other things, Dave has interned in London, walked along the Great Wall of China, stuffed envelopes for a non-profit organisation in New York, and cycled across the United States. Alexandra has worked on museum and event installations as well as critical graphic and product design, and is currently doing an internship at the Design Council.

Clearly, between them they had enough ideas and experience to beat off the competition with a sustainably sourced stick. Look out for the Sponge postcards from September and see what they came up with. They will be available at Sponge events (and other relevant events posted on the Sponge website) and in offices via Sponge members.

ALSO a special mention to our close runner up, Elana Westers of CEN. Her images are in the library now if you want to check them out...
Apologies to the rest of you, but they really were all good entries!!
